ABOUT THE EDITOR

Who Is She?

“Seattle raised me, San Diego shaped me, and somewhere along the way I became a girl who could not, for the life of her, stop overthinking out loud. One of eleven kids, which is its own personality trait. Background in Psychology, which is to say I’ve been professionally curious about why people do what they do for a long time. Writing is what I do with all of it.

I’ve been recognized for my work in academia and across social media, but the real proof is that I’ve kept showing up to write even when I disappeared to do it.”

Why A Blog?

“Because there's a specific kind of storytelling I missed reading. The early 2000s blogosphere had a particular energy — culturally specific, a little messy, and deeply personal. Then somewhere between the rise of the influencer and the death of the personal essay, it quietly disappeared.

I started this to fill that gap on my own terms: humorous, captivating, occasionally devastating, with me as the main character. No press releases, no performances. Just dispatches from a girl trying to make sense of her life in real time.”

What can you expect?

“A little of everything, because I am a lot of things at once. Reflective essays when I’m in my feelings. Travel dispatches when I find myself somewhere in the world worth writing about. Notes on faith when I’ve been humbled by it again. Music I can't stop playing, restaurants I'm gatekeeping, books that have wrecked me, and whatever else is rattling around in my head that week.

The only thing I can promise is that you’ll leave knowing something you didn't before. Maybe about me, maybe about yourself, maybe about an album you didn't know you needed. At the very least: you’ll leave somehow different than you came.”
